Biography

I was born in Baltimore, grew up in Ellicott City, and currently live in Columbia, Maryland.  Raised in a large extended family environment, the oldest of seven kids with a Mom and Dad dedicated to their children, I found it very easy to love people.  Their life lessons of love, hard work, hustle, personal responsibility and teamwork find their way into the lyrics of my music.  I graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics (Engineering Option) from Loyola College.  During my 32 year career as an engineer and financial analyst for Verizon I earned a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology both from Loyola College.

During this time I was a landlord for 21 years owning two homes, one in Ellicott City, one in Columbia.  I was elected to the Oakland Mills Village Board four times, and served on various committees for another seven years.  I volunteered as a 12-13 year old boys’ recreational league basketball coach and have 26 years in that capacity.  I volunteered as girls’ recreational and select soccer coach at various age levels and have 38 years in that capacity.  In 1996, I was awarded the Jack and Ellie Bousy Appreciation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Youth Soccer in Howard County by the Soccer Association of Columbia – Howard County’s Columbia Invitational Soccer Tournament.  In 2007, I was inducted into the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks Howard County Community Sports Hall of Fame for my coaching career.  See news links for Bill McCormack Jr.

After retirement I turned my attention to music.  I earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Music Therapy from Howard Community College.  I needed this degree to pursue my life long dream of writing and performing music for and with children.  When I was in college (the first time) I started a group of students who would go to the children’s wards of hospitals, and children’s homes to entertain.  We did pop music of the time, sat in with the kids and brought songs books for everyone so the kids could sing along.  I was the emcee and three or four played guitar and one played piano.  I loved those shows because the audience was the show.  To see those kids smile and have a good time was wonderful.  It made my week.  Now I get the chance to live my dream.
